Motion graphic evaluation.

I am pleased with this animation but, comparing it to Paul's which I really like, I think it could be improved with the addition of a few more different elements to it to make it more exciting, busy and varied. I am happy with the design of this piece of work as all of the colours compliment each other well, especially on multiply layers. I have learned many new skills in this project in After effects that I will definitely take forward to another project, such as 3D layers, layer styles, creating and merging multiple compositions. I believe that these skills I have learnt can be utilised well in the new commission I have been given to create the graphics for an event in London. The brief specifies bright colours so the style of video I have created for twentyseventythree would be a good source of inspiration for the work I will do for this client.
If I was to improve this video I would try and give it a more professional look, perhaps by adding motion blur to the text spin and Gaussian blur to the edge of the animation.

SWOT

With not long to go I thought it would be a good idea to do a SWOT analysis. This stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats and is a good way of assessing what I need to improve and focus on, so here it is.

Strengths: With my last few attempts I think I have got quite good at creating images on photoshop and digital painting (although I still have a lot of improving to do) I also am good at drawing and designing when I put my mind to it.

Weaknesses: My 3D work needs some practice as it would be great to get good at that. Also my general animation skills, as I am better with a still image. After effects and cinema 4D are the animation programmes to improve on. Also Adobe Illustrator would be useful to improve as I am very weak on this programme.

Opportunities: I am looking forward to doing some work experiences when I finish the course as therse are my main opportunities  I have a few options. One acquaintance is starting an app company and said he would employ me on a day rate to do artwork for him which would be great as I would be earning as well as improving my skills. I also have a friend in a promotions company which has a design team, so hopefully he would be able to get some work experiance there. A friend of a friend is a successful artist working in a studio with other artists so some work experience there would be good.

Threats: Staying focussed and hard working after I finish will be hard as life has so many distractions so I will have to try and stay inspired and disciplined, finding my own work and projects.
Another threat is my competition within the industry, I can only combat this by working hard to try and get to the top of my game in animation and illustration.

MC Escher

As I am doing traditional print making for my latest work experience I thought I would do a post on Escher. He did some awesome print work which has amazed me since I was a kid. If your not familiar you have to check him out.
